The Sum of All

Fresh from a trip in Japan and itching to paint, this image came to be together with the poem

An abstract painting of bursting colors of red, pink, yellow, orange and gold that look like fire and flowers
"The Sum of All" | Watercolor, ink and gold leaf on paper | 2017

It's my first thought this morning A remnant of last night's dream It's the burst of sweetness A remnant of bitterness— The Sakura tea!

I was thinking of the bygone blossoms And the fire from the matsuri, A symbol of rekindled passions And the burning desire to create And the spindles of self-doubt Mirrored through my love's eyes And the silent longing notes of Debussy's moonlight
